Course Overview

Food Safety ADVANCED.fst® is a more detailed and in-depth food handling, sanitation and work safety course than Food Safety BASICS.fst®. This Advanced course focuses on the role of foodservice and food retail leaders in measuring risks, setting policies, and training and supervising employees. Enhance your food and workplace safety knowledge and reduce the liability of your business by learning about hazards, storage, pest control, facility and equipment management, and more.

The information and recommendations in this course are based on the Canadian Food Retail and Food Services Regulation and Code (FRFSRC), Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Who Should Take the Course?

As a management-level food safety training course, Food Safety ADVANCED.fst® is designed for managers as well as any employee who wants to take their food safety knowledge to the next level. Owners, operators, supervisors, or managers of a food handling establishment will benefit from this course to better ensure that all food handlers are able to work more safely.

You do not need to complete Food Safety BASICS.fst® to take this course.

Course Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to provide participants with the information required to ensure employee and customer safety. It should also help to reduce the liability of business.

The course is designed for individual study and is divided into 14 easy-to-use training modules. Throughout the training, students will be challenged with case studies and practice exercises to help them reach the learning objectives.

Food safety experts are available to answer any questions on the unit content, and can be reached with a click of the “Ask the Expert” button throughout the course. Live Chat is also available for technical support or course content questions

Evaluation Process

At the end of each module there is a test. Participants must pass the test with 100% in order to move forward. If a participant does not score 100%, they can review the module and try the test again. Completing these tests helps to prepare students for their final certification examination. Once all of the modules are complete, participants must schedule a supervised in-class examination. A score of 75% or above is required to receive a Food Safety ADVANCED.fst® certificate.

This online course is self-paced, but expires within a year of purchase. During this time, you may leave and re-enter the platform at any point. The estimated course completion time is eight hours and the invigilated exam lasts one hour.
